Tools Required

  • Pentalobe screwdriver (P2)
  • Tri-point Y000 screwdriver
  • Phillips #000 screwdriver
  • Large suction cup
  • Plastic pry tools / spudger
  • Tweezers
  • Heat gun or iOpener
  • iPhone XS Max OLED replacement screen

Replacement Process

Same as iPhone XS but with larger display:

  1. Power off the iPhone
  2. Remove two pentalobe screws at bottom
  3. Heat edges thoroughly (larger display = more adhesive)
  4. Open from RIGHT side
  5. Support the heavy display carefully
  6. Disconnect battery first
  7. Remove display brackets and disconnect cables
  8. Transfer Face ID/earpiece assembly
  9. Install new display
  10. Test before sealing

Large Display Considerations

⚠️ Working with 6.5" displays:
  • More adhesive area - heat edges longer
  • Display is heavier - support it well
  • OLED replacement costs more than smaller XS
  • Take extra care during handling
