📋 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Power Off & Remove Screws
Power off your iPhone XR. Remove the two pentalobe screws at the bottom, on either side of the Lightning port.
Step 2: Heat & Open
Apply heat to the edges to soften adhesive. Use suction cup on the bottom half of the screen, create a gap, and insert opening picks.
Step 3: Separate All Edges
Slide opening picks around all edges. Be extra careful on the left edge - don't insert more than 3mm deep to avoid cable damage.
Step 4: Open Display
Swing the display open from the right side to about 90 degrees. Support it or use a repair stand - don't let it fall back.
Step 5: Disconnect Battery
Remove the tri-point screws from the battery bracket. Lift bracket and disconnect battery connector with a spudger.
Step 6: Disconnect Display
Remove the display cable bracket screws. Disconnect the three cables:
- LCD panel connector
- Digitizer connector
- Front sensor assembly connector
Step 7: Transfer Components
Move these from old screen to new:
- Earpiece speaker with sensor assembly (includes Face ID)
- Metal shield plates
Step 8: Install & Test
Connect new display cables. Reconnect battery. Power on and test:
- Display works with no dead pixels
- Touch responsive everywhere
- Face ID recognizes you
- Front camera works
Step 9: Seal & Finish
Apply new display adhesive. Close display firmly, pressing around edges. Replace bottom pentalobe screws.
