The iPad Pro 11" features a stunning Liquid Retina display with ProMotion. This guide covers screen replacement for all generations of the 11" model.

⏱️ 1.5-2 hours 💪 Advanced 💰 $120-250 in parts
⚠️ Important Considerations:
  • All iPad Pro 11" models have Face ID — very delicate sensors
  • USB-C port and speakers create tight tolerances on the bottom edge
  • ProMotion display requires OEM or high-quality replacement for smooth scrolling
  • This repair voids any remaining Apple warranty

📱 Identify Your iPad Pro 11"

📋 Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Prepare Your Workspace

Power off the iPad completely. Work on a clean, soft surface — a silicone mat is ideal. If the screen is cracked, cover it with clear packing tape to prevent glass shards from spreading.

2

Apply Heat to the Edges

Begin with one of the long edges. Apply heat for 3-4 minutes until the edge is hot but not too hot to touch. The adhesive softens around 180°F (80°C).

💡 Tip: Start with the right edge (opposite the volume buttons) to avoid damaging button cables early in the repair.
3

Insert an Opening Pick

Apply a suction cup to the heated edge. Pull up while pushing a thin pick or pry tool into the gap. Insert only 2-3mm deep to avoid hitting internal components.

4

Work Around All Edges

Leave picks in place as you go. Heat the next section, slide your tool to cut adhesive, insert another pick. Be especially careful at the top (Face ID sensors) and bottom (USB-C port).

⚠️ Face ID Warning: The Face ID module at the top contains infrared cameras and dot projector. Any damage here will permanently disable Face ID.
5

Lift the Display Assembly

Once all edges are free, lift the display from the bottom edge like opening a book. The flex cables connect near the top of the device.

6

Disconnect Battery First

This is critical to prevent shorts. Remove the bracket over the battery connector and gently disconnect it using a plastic spudger.

7

Remove Display Connectors

Remove the metal bracket covering the display cables. Disconnect 2-3 flex cables by prying straight up from their sockets. Never pull on the cables themselves.

8

Clean Frame Thoroughly

Remove all old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and plastic tools. The frame must be spotless for proper adhesion of the new screen.

9

Test Before Sealing

Connect the new display, reconnect battery, and power on. Test touch across the entire screen, display quality, and Face ID. Fix any issues before final assembly.

10

Apply Adhesive & Install Screen

Disconnect battery again. Apply pre-cut adhesive to the frame. Remove backing, carefully align the display, and press firmly around all edges for a secure bond.
