Add Screen Recording Button to Control Center

If you don't see the screen recording button:

  1. Settings → Control Center
  2. Scroll to 'More Controls'
  3. Tap the green + next to 'Screen Recording'
  4. It now appears in Control Center (swipe down from top-right corner)

Greyed-Out Recording Button

If the button shows but is grey/disabled:

  1. Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions
  2. Tap 'Content Restrictions'
  3. Scroll to 'Screen Recording'
  4. Set to 'Allow'

Common cause: parental controls or Screen Time blocking it.

No Audio in Recording

By default, screen recording captures only the screen — no audio. To include audio:

  1. Open Control Center (swipe down from top-right)
  2. Long-press the screen-recording button (don't tap)
  3. A menu appears — toggle on the microphone icon
  4. Tap 'Start Recording'

The mic icon stays on for future recordings until you long-press and turn it off.

Recording Fails After Few Seconds

Usually a storage issue:

  1. Settings → General → iPhone Storage
  2. If 'Available' is below 5GB, free up space
  3. Use Offload Unused Apps + clear Safari cache + Photos in Recently Deleted
  4. Try recording again

Screen recordings are huge — 100MB per minute at 1080p. Multi-minute recordings need 1–2GB of free space.

Recording Crashes Mid-Capture

If recording starts but stops after 30+ seconds:

  • Restart iPhone (force restart: Vol Up → Vol Down → hold Side until Apple logo)
  • Update iOS
  • Try recording with WiFi off + Bluetooth off (eliminates background interference)
  • If it still fails, the camera/screen recording chip may be the issue — Apple service required
