๐Ÿ“ถ Understanding Mac Wi-Fi

macOS Wi-Fi has multiple layers: hardware radio, driver, and software. Understanding this helps pinpoint problems.

  • Wi-Fi radio: The actual wireless chip. If dead, nothing works
  • Wi-Fi drivers: Software that controls the hardware
  • Network settings: Configuration for connecting to networks
  • If Wi-Fi icon is missing, the hardware or driver has failed
  • If icon is present but grayed out, the radio is disabled or needs a reset
