- Camera shows black screen
- Microphone not working
- Calls won't connect
- Poor video quality
- "FaceTime Unavailable" error
✅ Basic Checks
- Internet Connection: FaceTime needs stable internet. Test by loading a website.
- Apple ID: Make sure you're signed in: FaceTime → Settings → Sign in with Apple ID
- FaceTime Enabled: FaceTime → Settings → Enable "FaceTime"
- Date & Time: Incorrect time causes sign-in failures. System Settings → General → Date & Time → Set automatically
📹 Camera Not Working?
1. Check Camera Permissions
- System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
- Make sure FaceTime is in the list and enabled
- If not listed, you may need to reset permissions
2. Test Camera in Other Apps
- Open Photo Booth or QuickTime
- If camera works there, FaceTime has a specific issue
- If camera doesn't work anywhere, it's a system-wide problem
3. Check for Camera In Use
Only one app can use the camera at a time:
- Close Zoom, Teams, Skype, or any other video apps
- Close browser tabs that might be using camera
- Try FaceTime again

For older Intel MacBooks:
- Shut down Mac
