iPhone Voice Control Not Working - Fix Guide
Voice Control lets you control your entire iPhone with voice commands — navigate apps, tap buttons, dictate text, and more. It's different from Siri and designed for hands-free accessibility. Here's how to fix it when it's not working.
✅ Enable Voice Control
- Settings → Accessibility
- Tap Voice Control
- Toggle Voice Control ON
- First time: Download the language file when prompted
When active, you'll see a blue microphone icon in the status bar.
🎤 Voice Control vs Siri
- Voice Control: Navigate iPhone UI, tap buttons, scroll, dictate text
- Siri: Ask questions, set reminders, control smart home
- They can work together but serve different purposes
- "Hey Siri" won't activate Voice Control commands
🔧 Troubleshooting
1. Download Language File
Voice Control needs offline language data:
- Settings → Accessibility → Voice Control
- Tap Language
- Make sure your language shows a checkmark (downloaded)
- If not, tap to download (requires WiFi)
2. Check Microphone
- Test microphone in Voice Memos app
- Clear any debris from microphone holes
- Remove case if it covers microphones
- If using Bluetooth headphones, try built-in mic instead
3. Speak Clearly
- Speak at normal volume, not too quiet
- Reduce background noise
- Pause briefly between commands
- Say "Show me what to say" to see available commands
4. Restart iPhone
- Press Side + Volume buttons
- Slide to power off
- Wait 30 seconds, turn back on
5. Reset Voice Control
- Settings → Accessibility → Voice Control
- Toggle OFF
- Restart iPhone
- Toggle back ON
