Sleep Cycle vs AutoSleep
Sleep Cycle: iPhone-based (works without Apple Watch). $30/year subscription. AutoSleep: Apple Watch-based, $5 one-time. Different markets. Sleep Cycle for: iPhone-only users wanting sleep app. AutoSleep for: Apple Watch users wanting deeper analysis.Smart alarm feature
Sleep Cycle\'s killer feature: wakes you during light sleep phase. Better wake feeling than rigid alarm. iPhone microphone detects sleep stage by sound (breathing, movement). Set window (e.g., 6:00-6:30am), wakes optimal moment.Microphone-based tracking
Sleep Cycle uses iPhone microphone to detect sleep stages by audio (breathing patterns, movement sounds, snoring). Works without Apple Watch. Privacy: audio processing on-device, not uploaded. Innovative approach.Snoring detection (Premium)
Sleep Cycle Premium: records + analyzes snoring. Snoring score nightly. Plays back recordings. Useful for: identifying snoring patterns, sleep apnea screening, partner concerns. SnoreLab is free alternative.Sleep coaching
Personalized insights + recommendations. \'Try going to bed 30 min earlier\'. \'Avoid caffeine after 2pm\'. Coaching based on your data. Active improvement vs passive tracking.Sleep stories + meditations
Sleep Cycle includes sleep stories + meditations. Falling asleep aids. Calm + Headspace better at this niche but Sleep Cycle bundle includes some.Pricing reality
$30/year is reasonable BUT subscription fatigue real. AutoSleep $5 one-time better long-term value. Sleep Cycle annual benefits if actively use coaching feature.Privacy
Microphone audio processed on-device. NOT uploaded. Sleep data syncs to Apple Health. Sleep Cycle company in Sweden — strong privacy law. Reasonable privacy posture.Mail-In Repair Service
