How to Reset iPhone Without Password

Locked out of your iPhone? Here are official methods to reset it (warning: erases all data).

⚠️ Important Warning

Resetting without password will erase all data. Only do this if you have a backup or accept data loss.

🔧 Method 1: Recovery Mode (Mac/PC)

  1. Connect iPhone to computer with cable
  2. Open Finder (Mac) or iTunes (PC)
  3. Force restart into recovery mode:
    • iPhone 8+: Volume Up, Volume Down, hold Power until recovery screen
    • iPhone 7: Hold Power + Volume Down until recovery screen
  4. Click "Restore" when prompted
  5. Set up as new or restore from backup

🌐 Method 2: iCloud (Find My)

  1. Go to iCloud.com/find on another device
  2. Sign in with Apple ID
  3. Select your iPhone
  4. Click "Erase iPhone"
  5. Set up device after erase completes
