Organize By People (Most Important)
Photos → People & Pets album → tap face → 'Add Name'. iPhone tags every photo with that face automatically.
Tag: spouse, kids, parents, siblings, close friends. Search 'Mom' returns all Mom's photos. Time-saver.
Organize By Events (Manual Albums)
Create albums for: Trips ('Italy 2024'), Holidays ('Christmas 2025'), Kid milestones ('Sam's First Year'), Projects ('Kitchen Reno').
Don't make 100 albums — quality over quantity. 10-20 max.
Smart Albums (Mac Only Mostly)
On Mac Photos: File → New Smart Album → criteria. Smart albums auto-fill matching photos. Favorites album: 'Photos with 5-star rating'. Recent: 'Last 30 days'.
iPhone has limited Smart Album support but iOS 18+ added basic versions.
Search By What's In Photo
Photos search → type 'beach', 'dog', 'pizza', 'flower', 'sunset'. iPhone's on-device ML tagged photos automatically.
Combine searches: 'beach 2018' = beach photos from 2018. 'Mom Paris' = Mom in Paris. Smart.
Use Live Text in Photos
Tap text in any photo → copy/translate/share. Search Photos for words inside images. 'Menu' returns restaurant menu pics.
Useful: receipts, business cards, signs, handwritten notes.
Visual Look Up
Photo → tap (i) → 'Look Up'. iPhone identifies plants, animals, landmarks, art, products. Build searchable photo library.
Hidden Album for Sensitive
Long-press photo → Hide → moves to Hidden album (Face ID locked iOS 16+). Settings → Photos → Hide Hidden Album → ON for max privacy.
Recently Deleted (30 Days)
Deleted photos go to Recently Deleted album for 30 days. Recover before gone forever.
Empty Recently Deleted manually if you really want them gone.
