Using ID at TSA Airport Security
TSA accepts iPhone digital ID at PreCheck airports in 20 states. Tap iPhone to TSA reader, present ID via Face ID auth.
Skip: showing physical license. Faster TSA experience.
Bars / Age Verification
Some bars/restaurants in supported states accept Apple Wallet ID for age verification. Scan iPhone, tap to share age + photo.
Privacy benefit: bartender sees only age + face. Doesn't see address, license number, etc.
Hotel Keys
Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy, Hyatt apps support adding hotel key to Wallet at check-in.
Tap iPhone on door reader → unlocked. Skip front desk entirely. Especially valuable for late arrivals.
Car Keys (Growing List)
BMW, Hyundai/Genesis/Kia, certain Hondas now support Apple Wallet car keys. Unlock + start car with iPhone.
Bonus: share temporary keys with family member's iPhone (set duration, permissions).
Boarding Passes (Auto-Add)
Email confirmation from airline → Apple Mail recognizes boarding pass format → 'Add to Wallet' button appears.

If You Lose iPhone
Find My can: lock iPhone, erase remotely, mark as lost. Cards in Wallet are deactivated automatically when device locked.
You don't need to call card companies — Apple handles via Find My.
What's NOT In Wallet (Yet)
- Passports (in development for 2027+)
- Most international IDs
- SSN cards (never planned)
- Insurance cards (some healthcare apps)
Verdict
Wallet replaces 80% of physical wallet contents in 2026. Set up state ID + Apple Pay + loyalty cards. Skip plastic.
Keep physical wallet for: passport, social security card (don't carry — keep in safe), backup credit card, cash.
