iPhone Live Photos Not Working - How to Fix

Live Photos not capturing or playing back? Fix Live Photo issues on your iPhone.

📸 Fix #1: Enable Live Photos

Make sure Live Photos is turned on:

  1. Open the Camera app
  2. Look for the Live Photos icon (concentric circles) at top
  3. If it has a line through it, tap to enable
  4. Yellow icon = Live Photos ON
⚙️ Fix #2: Check Camera Settings

Preserve your Live Photos preference:

  1. Settings → Camera → Preserve Settings
  2. Enable Live Photo
  3. This keeps your setting between sessions
📵 Fix #3: Disable Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode can disable Live Photos:

  1. Settings → Battery
  2. Turn OFF Low Power Mode
  3. Or charge your iPhone above 80%
👆 Fix #4: Play Live Photos Correctly

To view a Live Photo:

  • Open the photo in Photos app
  • Press and hold on the image
  • The Live Photo will play
  • Look for "LIVE" badge in corner
🔄 Fix #5: Check If Photo Is Actually Live

Not all photos are Live Photos:

  1. Open photo in Photos app
  2. Swipe up on the photo
  3. If it's Live, you'll see effects (Loop, Bounce, Long Exposure)
  4. No effects = not a Live Photo
🚫 Fix #6: Live Photos Limitations

Live Photos don't work in certain modes:

  • Flash ON — Disables Live Photos
  • Burst mode — No Live Photos during burst
  • Some filters — May disable Live Photos
  • Third-party camera apps — May not support Live Photos
💾 Fix #7: Check Storage Space

Low storage can affect Live Photos:

  1. Settings → General → iPhone Storage
  2. Live Photos take more space than regular photos
  3. Free up space if storage is nearly full
🔄 Fix #8: Restart Camera App

Force close and reopen Camera:

  1. Swipe up from bottom and hold (or double-click Home)
  2. Swipe up on Camera to close it
  3. Reopen Camera and check Live Photos
⬆️ Fix #9: Update iOS

Updates fix camera bugs:

  1. Settings → General → Software Update
  2. Install any available updates
  3. Test Live Photos after update
