iPhone Find My Not Working - Fix Guide

Find My helps locate your iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, and AirTags. When it stops working, you can't track lost devices. Here's how to fix it.

โœ… Enable Find My iPhone
  1. Settings โ†’ [Your Name] at top
  2. Tap Find My
  3. Tap Find My iPhone
  4. Enable all three toggles:
    • Find My iPhone
    • Find My network (for offline finding)
    • Send Last Location

1. Check Location Services

  1. Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Location Services
  2. Make sure Location Services is ON
  3. Scroll to Find My โ†’ set to While Using or Always
  4. Also check System Services at bottom โ†’ enable Find My iPhone

2. Check Internet Connection

  • Find My needs internet to update location
  • If offline, "Find My network" uses nearby Apple devices
  • Location may be delayed without WiFi or cellular

3. Sign In to iCloud

  1. Settings โ†’ [Your Name]
  2. If it says "Sign in to your iPhone" โ€” sign in with Apple ID
  3. Make sure iCloud is enabled

4. Check Date & Time

  1. Settings โ†’ General โ†’ Date & Time
  2. Enable Set Automatically
  3. Wrong date/time can cause iCloud issues

5. Restart iPhone

  1. Press Side + Volume buttons
  2. Slide to power off
  3. Wait 30 seconds, turn back on
๐Ÿ“ Shows Wrong Location?
  • Location accuracy depends on GPS, WiFi, and cell towers
  • Indoor locations are less accurate
  • May show location of WiFi router, not exact device position
  • Give it time to update โ€” refresh by pulling down in Find My app
๐Ÿ”‡ Can't Play Sound?
  • Device must be online to play sound
  • If device is off or out of battery, sound won't play
  • AirPods must be out of case to play sound
๐Ÿ”’ Device Shows "Offline"?

This means the device can't connect to the internet:

  • Device is powered off
  • Battery is dead
  • No WiFi or cellular connection
  • Device is in Airplane Mode

With "Find My network" enabled, offline devices can still be located via nearby Apple devices.

If your iPhone is lost, use another device:

  1. Go to icloud.com/find
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Select your device to see location
  4. Options: Play Sound, Mark as Lost, Erase iPhone
