Setup (5 minutes)
- Settings → tap your name (Apple ID) → Family Sharing
- Set yourself as Organizer
- Tap 'Add Family Member' → invite via iMessage or in-person
- Family members get prompt → accept
- Choose what to share: Purchase Sharing, Music, iCloud, Location
What Gets Shared (Free)
- App purchases — once one buys, all 6 can install
- Music — 6 individual libraries (not shared listening)
- Movies, TV shows — purchased iTunes content

Ask to Buy (Kids)
For kids under 18, organizer can require approval for purchases. Settings → Family → kid's name → Ask to Buy. Parents get push notification → approve/deny in Messages. Best parental control feature on iPhone.
Screen Time Across Family
Settings → Screen Time → set limits remotely for kids' devices. Block apps after bedtime, limit games to 1hr/day, force downtime. Works on iPhone + iPad both.
Location Sharing Privacy
Family location is opt-in per-person. Don't force it — creates resentment with teens. Best to share only with younger kids (under 14). Older kids: Find My friends with consent.
