Set Up Medical ID (5 minutes)
- Open Health app → tap profile pic → Medical ID
- Add: blood type, allergies, medications, conditions, organ donor status
- Add 2-3 emergency contacts (with relationship)
- Toggle 'Show When Locked' ON — first responders need this
- Toggle 'Share During Emergency Call' ON
Test Emergency SOS (Important)
Settings → Emergency SOS → 'Try Demo'. Walks through the satellite handshake without actually calling 911. Practice so you know how in real emergency.
Crash Detection (Auto)
iPhone 14+ has crash detection. If iPhone in car detects severe crash (G-forces + airbag deploy + sudden stop): iPhone calls 911 automatically. You can override during 10-sec countdown if false alarm. Has saved 100+ documented lives.
Fall Detection (Apple Watch)
Apple Watch SE 2+ and Series 4+ detect hard falls. If you're motionless 60 sec after fall: Watch calls 911. Especially valuable for elderly relatives. Settings → Watch → Emergency SOS → enable for over-65 only by default.
Emergency Contacts Auto-Dial
If you initiate Emergency SOS, after dispatcher hangs up, iPhone texts your emergency contacts your location automatically. Updates as you move. Family knows you're safe (or not) in real-time.
