iPhone Depth Effect Not Working - Fix Guide
Lock Screen depth effect not showing? The wallpaper layer effect requires specific conditions. Here's how to make it work.
📱 Requirements for Depth Effect
- iOS 16 or later
- iPhone XS or newer (needs Neural Engine)
- Photo with clear subject separation (person, pet, object)
- Subject must be in the right position
🔧 Fix #1: Enable Depth Effect
- Long-press Lock Screen
- Tap Customize
- Tap the three dots (...) menu
- Make sure Depth Effect is checked
🔧 Fix #2: Reposition the Subject
- In customize mode, pinch to zoom/reposition
- Move the subject so it naturally overlaps the clock
- Subject should be in upper portion of image
🔧 Fix #3: Remove Widgets
Widgets below the clock disable depth effect:
- Customize Lock Screen
- Remove all widgets from below the clock
- Depth effect should now work
🔧 Fix #4: Use a Better Photo
- Clear subject separation from background
- Good lighting and contrast
- Portrait mode photos work best
- Subject should be a person, pet, or distinct object
🔧 Fix #5: Restart iPhone
- Press Side + Volume buttons
- Slide to power off
- Wait 30 seconds, turn back on
