Cellular data issues fall into 3 buckets: (1) carrier issue, (2) iPhone settings, (3) eSIM/SIM problem. This guide diagnoses each.
Understanding Normal vs. Abnormal Temperatures

- 5G data slower than 4G: 5G mid-band can be slower than 4G in weak areas. Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Voice & Data → switch to LTE temporarily.
- Roaming abroad: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Data Roaming → ON. Many carriers charge for roaming — check before enabling.
- eSIM lost after iPhone backup restore: eSIMs don't transfer via backup. Contact carrier to provision new eSIM.
- Dual SIM line not working: Settings → Cellular → ensure both lines are 'Active'. One might have been switched off.

- An internal fan may be failing — listen for grinding or silence
