📋 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Power Off & Remove SIM
Power off your iPhone 16 completely. Remove the SIM card tray from the left side using the SIM eject tool.
Step 2: Remove Bottom Screws
Use the P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two screws on either side of the Lightning port at the bottom of the phone.
Step 3: Heat the Edges
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the edges of the screen for 1-2 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the display. Keep the heat moving to avoid damage.
Step 4: Apply Suction Cup
Place the suction handle on the lower portion of the screen, near the home area. Pull up firmly while keeping the phone stable.
Step 5: Insert Opening Pick
When a small gap appears, insert a plastic opening pick. Slide it around the perimeter to separate the adhesive. Be careful near the top where the Face ID sensors are located.
Step 6: Open the Display
Once the adhesive is separated, carefully open the display like a book, hinging from the right side. Don't pull it completely off - cables are still connected!
Step 7: Disconnect Battery
Locate the battery connector bracket. Remove the screws and use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector. This prevents short circuits.
Step 8: Disconnect Display Cables
Remove the display connector bracket screws. Carefully disconnect the display cables (there are typically 3 connectors).
Step 9: Remove Old Display
The display assembly can now be removed. Set it aside.
Step 10: Transfer Components (if needed)
If your replacement screen doesn't include the earpiece speaker and sensor assembly, carefully transfer these from your old screen.
Step 11: Install New Display
Connect the display cables to the new screen. Make sure each connector clicks into place. Replace the bracket and screws.
Step 12: Reconnect Battery
Reconnect the battery connector and replace the bracket with its screws.
Step 13: Test Before Sealing
Power on the phone and test the display: touch response, Face ID, speakers, and front camera. If everything works, power off again.
Step 14: Apply New Adhesive
Remove old adhesive residue and apply new display adhesive strips around the perimeter.
Step 15: Seal the Display
Carefully lower the display and press firmly around the edges to seal it. Replace the two bottom pentalobe screws.
⚠️ Important Tips
- Always disconnect the battery before working on any components
- Take photos during disassembly to help with reassembly
- Keep screws organized - use a magnetic mat or labeled containers
- True Tone may need recalibration after screen replacement (requires special tools)
- If Face ID stops working, the sensor assembly may need to be transferred from the old screen
- Use only quality replacement parts from reputable suppliers
