iPhone 15 Battery Replacement Guide

Step 1: Power Off Your iPhone 15

Power off your iPhone 15 completely before beginning any repair work. Your data won't be affected by this repair, but powering down is essential for safety and to prevent accidental damage to the device.

Step 2: Remove Bottom Pentalobe Screws

Remove the two pentalobe P2 screws on either side of the USB-C port at the bottom of the device. Keep these screws in a safe place—they're critical for maintaining water resistance and are easy to misplace.

Step 3: Apply Heat to Soften Adhesive

The iPhone 15's OLED display is sealed with strong waterproof adhesive. Use a heat gun or hair dryer on medium heat. Apply warmth to each edge for 1-2 minutes, focusing especially on the bottom and sides where adhesive is thickest.

Step 4: Create an Initial Gap with Suction Cup

Apply a suction cup to the bottom center of the screen. Pull upward with steady, consistent pressure while pressing down on the frame. You'll feel the adhesive break—listen for a subtle pop when separation begins.

Step 5: Insert Opening Picks & Work Around

Once you have an initial gap, insert plastic opening picks carefully. Start at the bottom and work along the left side. The display connectors are on the right side, so avoid that area until last. Use multiple picks to keep gaps open.

Step 6: Open Display to 90 Degrees

Gently lift the bottom of the screen and open it upward like opening a book. Prop it at about 90 degrees—don't fully separate it yet since the ribbon cables are still connected at the top.

Step 7: Disconnect Display Cable Bracket

You'll see the display connector bracket at the top of the device. Remove the 5 tri-point Y000 screws carefully. Disconnect all three ribbon connectors by gently lifting them with a plastic spudger.

Step 8: Disconnect Battery Connector

Locate the battery connector on the left side of the device. Remove the bracket (2-3 screws) and carefully disconnect the battery cable using a plastic spudger. This prevents short circuits during the battery swap.

Step 9: Remove Old Battery

The battery is held with adhesive strips underneath. Look for the pull-tabs and gently pull them to lift the battery. If tabs break, use a plastic spudger to carefully pry it out. Work patiently and never puncture the battery case.

Step 10: Clean Battery Compartment

Remove all remaining adhesive residue from the battery compartment. Use a plastic spudger to scrape away old strips completely. The surface must be clean and flat for the new battery to seat properly.

Step 11: Apply Fresh Adhesive Strips

Install new adhesive strips in the battery compartment. Position them with pull-tabs pointing toward the top for easy removal in the future. Press down firmly on all strips to ensure they're secure.

Step 12: Install New Battery

Carefully lower the new 3349 mAh battery into position. Press firmly along all edges to ensure strong adhesive contact. The battery should sit flush and secure with no gaps.

Step 13: Reconnect Battery Connector

Reconnect the battery cable by aligning and pressing down until it clicks firmly. Replace the battery connector bracket and tighten its screws. Verify the connection is solid and won't come loose.

Step 14: Reconnect Display Cables

Reconnect all three display ribbon cables in reverse order of removal. Make sure each one seats fully with an audible click. OLED connections are critical—a loose connector causes serious display problems.

Step 15: Replace Display Cable Bracket

Replace the 5 tri-point screws holding the display connector bracket. Tighten snugly but not forcefully—over-tightening can crack the delicate circuit board.

Step 16: Power On & Test Before Sealing

Power on your iPhone 15 and verify everything works before permanently sealing:

• OLED display shows proper image
• No dark spots or discoloration
• Touch responsive across entire screen
• Face ID recognizes and unlocks
• Battery percentage shows in Settings
• Device charges via USB-C

Step 17: Apply Display Adhesive

Once all tests pass, shut down the device. Apply fresh adhesive strips around the display perimeter. Most kits include pre-cut strips for each edge. Position them carefully for complete coverage.

Step 18: Lower & Seal Display

Gently lower the OLED display into place. Press firmly around all edges for 10-15 seconds per section to ensure strong adhesion and proper water sealing.

Step 19: Replace Bottom Screws & Finish

Replace the two pentalobe screws at the bottom beside the USB-C port. Tighten firmly but don't over-tighten. Do a final visual check—the display should sit perfectly flush with the frame, with no gaps.
