๐ฑ Which iPads Support Stage Manager?
Stage Manager requires an M-series chip. Check if your iPad is supported:
โ Supported iPads:
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation and later) - M1/M2/M4
- iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation and later) - M1/M2/M4
- iPad Air (5th generation and later) - M1/M2
โ NOT Supported:
- iPad Pro with A12X or A12Z (2018-2020 models)
- iPad Air 4th generation (A14)
- All standard iPads
- All iPad mini models
Check your iPad: Settings โ General โ About โ look for chip type
โก Step 1: Enable Stage Manager
- Open Settings โ Home Screen & Multitasking
- Tap Stage Manager
- Turn on Use Stage Manager on iPad
- Or: Open Control Center, tap the Stage Manager icon
๐ง Fix #1: Check iPadOS Version
Stage Manager requires iPadOS 16 or later:
- Go to Settings โ General โ Software Update
- Install iPadOS 16 or later
- Restart iPad after update
- Try enabling Stage Manager again
๐ง Fix #2: Stage Manager Icon Missing from Control Center
- Go to Settings โ Control Center
- Scroll down to find Stage Manager
- Tap the green + to add it
- Now it will appear in Control Center
๐ง Fix #3: Windows Not Resizing Properly
- Make sure the app supports resizable windows
- Drag window corners to resize
- Some apps don't support all window sizes
- Try a different app to test
Note: Not all apps support window resizing. Apple's apps work best.

Stage Manager with external display requires:
- M1/M2/M4 iPad Pro or iPad Air
- iPadOS 16.2 or later
- Compatible USB-C/Thunderbolt cable or adapter
- Connect your external display via USB-C
- Go to Settings โ Home Screen & Multitasking โ Stage Manager
- Enable External Display option
- Display should extend (not mirror)

- Go to Settings โ Home Screen & Multitasking โ Stage Manager
- Enable Recent Apps
- This shows the left-side app strip
- Toggle off and on if not appearing

- Close unused apps: Swipe up to close apps you don't need
- Restart iPad: Press and hold Power + Volume, slide to power off
- Free up storage: Settings โ General โ iPad Storage
