Face ID failure on iPad Pro is frustrating. Software issues are the common culprit, but hardware can also fail.
Settings → Face ID & Passcode → verify your face is enrolled. If not, tap Set Up Face ID and follow prompts (it takes 2 scans).
Face ID works best without obstructions. Remove glasses, masks, or hats and try again. In sunglasses-enabled mode, some lighting conditions fail recognition.
Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Set Up an Alternate Appearance. Add your face again in different lighting or without glasses. This improves recognition.
