iPad Air 5 Not Turning On

🔍 Step 1: Identify the Symptom

• Completely black, no response: Dead battery or software crash
• Top button (Touch ID) responds but no screen: Device is on, display issue
• Low battery icon briefly: Critically drained — charge first
• Apple logo then off repeatedly: iPadOS corruption — Recovery Mode needed
• Black after being stored months: Deep-discharged battery
• Overheated during 5G use or M1 workload: Thermal shutdown — cool down

🔋 Step 2: Charge via USB-C

iPad Air 5 uses USB-C and supports up to 20W fast charging:

1. Use a 20W USB-C PD charger and PD-rated cable for best results
2. Inspect the USB-C port under a flashlight — clear any lint with a dry wooden toothpick
3. Wait 5–10 minutes after plugging in — the 28.65Wh battery takes time from deep discharge
4. Look for the large red battery icon confirming charging is working
5. If stored for months: expect 20–30 minutes before any screen response

🔄 Step 3: Force Restart iPad Air 5

iPad Air 5 uses the modern force restart (no Home button — Touch ID is in the top power button):

1. Press and quickly release Volume Up (right side in portrait)
2. Press and quickly release Volume Down
3. Press and hold the Top button (Touch ID/power) for up to 10 seconds

💻 Step 6: Recovery Mode
