📋 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Power Off

Completely power off your iPad. This is critical before any repair work.

Step 2: Heat the Screen Edges

Use a heat gun or iOpener to heat the edges of the screen for 2-3 minutes per side. The adhesive needs to be softened for safe removal. Heat around 80-90°C (175-195°F).

Step 3: Apply Suction Cup

Place a large suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen and pull up while applying steady pressure.

Step 4: Insert Opening Picks

Once a gap appears, slide plastic opening picks around the perimeter. Leave picks in place to prevent re-adhesion. Take your time - rushing can crack the LCD.

Step 5: Work Around All Edges

Continue heating and separating adhesive around all edges. Be extra careful near the top where the front camera is located.

Step 6: Lift the Screen

Once all adhesive is separated, carefully lift the screen from the bottom edge. The display cable connects near the top.

Step 7: Disconnect Display Cable

Locate the display connector under a metal bracket. Remove screws, lift the bracket, and disconnect the cable using a spudger.

Step 8: Remove Old Screen

Set the old screen aside. Clean any remaining adhesive from the frame using isopropyl alcohol.

Step 9: Test New Screen

Before applying adhesive, connect the new screen and power on to test. Check touch response, display quality, and camera.

Step 10: Apply New Adhesive

Apply new adhesive strips around the frame perimeter. Make sure they're properly aligned.

Step 11: Connect & Seal

Connect the display cable, replace the bracket and screws. Carefully lower the screen and press firmly around all edges to seal.

⚠️ Important Tips

  • iPad screens are fragile - a cracked digitizer can still shatter further
  • Keep heat moving to avoid LCD damage
  • The 10th gen has a different design than previous iPads - make sure you have the right parts
  • Consider professional repair if you're not comfortable with heat tools
  • Back up your iPad before attempting any repair
