HomePod Not Responding - Fix Guide
HomePod or HomePod mini not responding to "Hey Siri" or showing connection issues? This guide covers all fixes.
🔄 Quick Fix: Restart HomePod
- Unplug HomePod from power
- Wait 10 seconds
- Plug it back in
- Wait for the white light, then try "Hey Siri"
Alternative: Open Home app → tap HomePod → scroll down → Reset HomePod → Restart HomePod
🌐 Check WiFi Connection
- HomePod must be on the same WiFi network as your iPhone
- Check if your router is working (test with another device)
- 5GHz networks work best for HomePod
- Restart your router if needed
To check HomePod network: Home app → tap HomePod → Settings icon → scroll to WiFi Address
🎙️ "Hey Siri" Not Working
- Open Home app
- Tap and hold your HomePod
- Tap the Settings icon
- Make sure Listen for "Hey Siri" is ON
- Check that Touch and Hold for Siri is enabled
Also check: Is your HomePod muted? Tap the top to unmute.
🔊 No Sound / Audio Issues
- Volume too low: Say "Hey Siri, set volume to 50%"
- Check AirPlay: Something else might be playing to it
- Restart: Unplug and replug
- Reset: If nothing works, factory reset (see below)
🔴 Flashing/Solid Light Meanings
- White pulsing: Ready for setup or Siri listening
- White spinning: Starting up
- Red/Orange light: Software update in progress
- No light: HomePod might be off or dead
- Green pulsing: Call being transferred
🔧 Factory Reset HomePod
From Home app:
- Open Home app
- Tap and hold HomePod
- Scroll down → Reset HomePod
- Choose Remove Accessory
Physical reset (if app doesn't work):
- Unplug HomePod
- Wait 5 seconds, plug back in
- Wait 5 seconds, then touch and hold the top
- Keep holding through the red light
- Siri will say it's resetting — keep holding
- Release when you hear 3 beeps
📱 Update HomePod Software
- Open Home app
- Tap the house icon → Home Settings
- Tap Software Update
- Install any available updates
