How do I use Look Around in Apple Maps?

Open the Maps app and search for a location; if Look Around is available there, a binoculars icon appears. Tap the icon to enter the photographic 3D street view, then drag to look around and tap the arrows to walk forward down the street. If no binoculars icon shows, that area isn't covered yet.

Is Apple Look Around better than Google Street View?

In supported areas, yes — Look Around has higher resolution imagery, smoother panning, and updates roughly every 6-12 months via Apple's camera vehicles. Google Street View wins on global coverage, though its imagery is often older. The practical answer: use Look Around where it exists and fall back to Street View everywhere else.

What cities have Apple Maps Look Around coverage in 2026?

Coverage spans 100+ cities: most major US cities plus many smaller ones, UK cities like London, Manchester, and Edinburgh, European capitals including Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Rome, and Amsterdam, Asian hubs like Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Seoul, plus Sydney, Melbourne, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. Coverage keeps growing — the binoculars icon in Maps confirms availability for any location.

Does Apple Maps track your search history like Google Maps?

Apple Maps doesn't tie your searches to your Apple ID and keeps no history in standard Maps use, whereas every Google Maps search is tied to your Google account. That makes Apple Maps the more private option for looking up addresses and exploring with Look Around.
