Apple Intelligence Not Working - Fix Guide

📱 Which Devices Support Apple Intelligence?

First, check if your device supports Apple Intelligence:

Supported iPhones:

• iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
• iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus
• iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max

Supported iPads:

• iPad Pro (M1 or later)
• iPad Air (M1 or later)
• iPad mini (A17 Pro or later)

Supported Macs:

• Any Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4)

❌ Not supported: iPhone 15 (non-Pro), iPhone 14 and earlier, Intel Macs

✅ Step 1: Update to iOS 18.1 or Later

Apple Intelligence requires iOS 18.1 (not iOS 18.0):

1. Go to Settings → General → Software Update
2. Install iOS 18.1 or later
3. Restart your iPhone after update

Apple Intelligence was not included in iOS 18.0. You must have 18.1+

🌍 Step 2: Set Language to English (US)

Apple Intelligence currently only works in English (United States):

1. Go to Settings → General → Language & Region
2. Set iPhone Language to English (US)
3. Set Region to United States
4. Restart your iPhone

Other languages coming in 2025. For now, US English only.

⚡ Step 3: Enable Apple Intelligence

1. Go to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri
2. Look for "Apple Intelligence" toggle
3. Turn it ON
4. You may see "Join the Waitlist" - tap it
5. Wait for notification that it's ready (can take hours to days)

📥 Step 4: Wait for Download

Apple Intelligence features download in the background:

1. Go to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri
2. Check for download progress
3. Make sure iPhone is on WiFi and plugged in
4. Leave iPhone overnight if needed

The AI models are large and download gradually. Be patient!

🔧 Fix: Writing Tools Not Showing

If Writing Tools don't appear when you select text:

1. Make sure Apple Intelligence is fully downloaded
2. Select text in any app (Notes, Mail, Messages)
3. Look for "Writing Tools" in the popup menu
4. If not visible, tap the arrow (>) to see more options
5. Try restarting your iPhone

🔔 Fix: Notification Summaries Not Working

1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Summarize Notifications
2. Turn on Summarize Notifications
3. Enable for specific apps below
4. You need multiple notifications from an app for summaries to appear
5. Summaries show on the Lock Screen grouped together

🎨 Fix: Image Generation Not Working

If Genmoji, Image Playground, or Image Wand don't work:

1. These features require iOS 18.2 or later
2. Update to the latest iOS version
3. Check Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri
4. Look for "Image Playground" section
5. Make sure it's downloaded and enabled

🔄 Fix: Siri with Apple Intelligence Not Working

1. Go to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri
2. Make sure Type to Siri or voice Siri is enabled
3. Try asking Siri a question about content on your screen
4. Ask "What can you do with Apple Intelligence?"
5. Siri should respond with AI-powered answers

📧 Fix: Mail Summaries Not Appearing

1. Open the Mail app
2. Go to your Inbox
3. Look for email summaries below the subject line
4. These appear automatically for longer emails
5. Go to Settings → Mail → Summarize Email
6. Make sure it's enabled

🔁 General Troubleshooting

1. Restart iPhone: Press Side + Volume, slide to power off, turn back on
2. Check storage: Settings → General → iPhone Storage (need free space)
3. Re-enable Apple Intelligence: Turn off, restart, turn back on
4. Reset settings: Settings → General → Reset → Reset All Settings
5. Sign out of Apple ID: Sometimes helps, sign back in

⚠️ Known Limitations

• Not in EU: Apple Intelligence not available in European Union yet
• Not in China: Not available in mainland China
• Language: English (US) only initially
• Waitlist: Some users may be on waitlist for days
• Server issues: Features may be slow when Apple servers are busy
