โœ… Step 1: Clean the Mesh Covers

Ear wax and dirt block sound:

  1. Remove the silicone ear tips
  2. Wipe the mesh speaker grilles gently with a dry cloth
  3. Use a dry cotton swab for stubborn debris
  4. Clean the charging case's metal contacts with a dry cloth
  5. Reinsert tips and test

๐Ÿ”ง Step 2: Reset Audio Settings

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Bluetooth
  2. Tap the i icon next to AirPods Pro
  3. Tap Forget This Device
  4. Power off the AirPods: hold the button until amber light
  5. Re-pair: hold the setup button until white light flashes

๐Ÿ”Š Step 3: Check Volume and EQ

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Bluetooth โ†’ AirPods Pro โ†’ Audio
  2. Check Microphone is set to Automatic or your preferred earbud
  3. Check Noise Control isn't muting audio (try switching between Noise Cancellation, Transparency, Off)
  4. Go to Settings โ†’ Sound & Haptics โ†’ EQ
  5. If set to Late Night or Quiet, change to Normal

๐Ÿ”‹ Step 4: Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause audio issues:

  1. Keep AirPods Pro near your iPhone
  2. Go to Settings โ†’ General โ†’ About
  3. Look for AirPods Pro in the list โ€” it will show firmware version
  4. If an update is available, it will download automatically
  5. Keep AirPods charged and near device while updating

๐ŸŽต Step 5: Check Stereo Balance

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Accessibility โ†’ Audio/Visual
  2. Look for Mono Audio โ€” if enabled, turn it off
  3. Check Balance slider โ€” ensure it's centered
  4. Test with stereo music โ€” sound should be balanced

๐Ÿ”Œ Step 6: Test on Different Device

Determine if issue is AirPods or phone:

  1. Connect AirPods Pro to a different iPhone, iPad, or Mac
  2. If sound quality improves, the issue is with your original device (audio settings or Bluetooth)
  3. If sound quality is still poor, AirPods may need service

โš ๏ธ When Professional Help Is Needed

  • Persistent muffled sound after cleaning and reset
  • One earbud consistently quieter even after balance adjustment
  • Crackling/distortion on all devices

Sound quality issues often indicate speaker driver failure โ€” requires professional service.
