🧹 Step 1: Clean the Earbuds and Speaker Mesh

Dirty speakers are the most common cause of muffled sound:

Remove both AirPods from case
Look at the bottom/front of each earbud — you'll see a speaker mesh with small holes
Use a dry cotton swab or soft brush to gently clean the speaker mesh
Wipe away any earwax, dust, or debris
Check the sound — better?
If muffled persists, the speaker mesh inside may be clogged

🎧 Step 2: Replace Ear Tips

Damaged or wrong-sized tips degrade sound quality:

Remove the current silicone ear tips by gently twisting and pulling
Check the tips for cracks, tears, or permanent deformation
If damaged, replace with fresh tips (small, medium, or large)
Gently twist new tips onto each earbud until snug
Retest sound quality

📱 Step 3: Check Volume Balance and EQ Settings

On iPhone, go to Settings → Accessibility → Audio/Visual
Check Balance slider — is it centered?
Go to Music app → tap your profile at top → scroll to EQ
If custom EQ is applied, reset to "Off" to hear default sound

🔄 Step 4: Reset AirPods Pro 2

Place both AirPods in case and close lid
Go to Settings → Bluetooth, tap info (i)
Tap Forget This Device
Press setup button on case for 15 seconds until white light
Re-pair and test sound

📱 Step 5: Update AirPods Firmware

Go to Settings → Bluetooth, tap info (i) next to AirPods
Check for firmware update and install if available
Keep AirPods and iPhone close during update

⚙️ Step 6: Test on a Different Device

Pair AirPods Pro 2 with a Mac, iPad, or different iPhone
Play the same audio
Does sound quality improve on the other device? If yes, it's an iPhone setting issue
If sound is poor on all devices, it's AirPods hardware
